See Valentine’s Day is all about celebrating love – but it doesn’t have to be limiting SOLELY to the day itself…
The “January blues” are a real thing, but one of the ways to beat them is by doing things like a Valentines alphabet dating challenge!
Just like you do Christmas date ideas leading up to Christmas Day, we want to encourage you to do Valentine’s date ideas leading up to Valentine’s Day…
And what better place to start than with these Valentines alphabet date ideas?!

What is the Alphabet Dating Challenge?
So before we get into it, just in case you aren’t aware…
The Alphabet Dating Challenge is a dating trend that involves planning a date for each letter of the alphabet, in chronological order. The goal is to push yourselves to do different things together, date more frequently and date more creatively too.
This is important and invaluable on so many levels – after all, experiential intimacy is one of the key types of intimacy your relationship actually really needs, and so by doing different date ideas and experiencing new things together, you’re connecting on that all-important level.
How To Do a Valentines Alphabet Dating Challenge
Now when it comes to doing a Valentines alphabet dating challenge – you may think, “but there’s not enough time to do 26 different dates before Valentine’s Day!”
And you’re right – that could be a bit of a stretch. So, I want to encourage you to tweak the rules of the traditional alphabet dating challenge and instead do it like this:
- Ask your partner if he / she wants to take on an Alphabet Dating Challenge with you. Hopefully, they’ll jump at the chance and say a great big, “YES!”
- Decide on how many dates you’re going to aim to do, based on when you see this and start it. Make sure this is at least, weekly, as a bare minimum. (E.G. If you start the first week of January, that would give you at least 6 different Valentines alphabet dates before Valentine’s week itself! Or, why not start on Valentine’s Day and do one every weekend from there? That also works too!)
- THEN – to keep it fun, exciting and spontaneous – don’t share this article with your partner. Instead SAVE IT, and every week – at the start of the week – ask your partner to pick a new letter, for which you will then do the chosen alphabet date for that specific letter, that weekend! This gives you time to prep / get something booked up if you need!
By doing it this way, you’re not overwhelmed by choice. Instead, you commit to doing the specific Valentines alphabet date idea that they pick at random – no matter how much it may push you outside your comfort zone! 🙌🫶
